The head two cars in this train are ex-Minneapolis & St Louis, Budd-built coaches, built to be used as trailers for the M&StL's gas electric cars. The small service door at the near end, distinguishes these cars, which had oil-fired heaters to warm the cars in winter. The extra door was to provide a second exit for the single vestibule cars, should a fire occur.
