This is Blue Ridge tunnel, at the top of the grade at Altapass. Notice how the innovative Clinchfield cut part of the signal mast away, to allow the signal to be moved closer to the track, so a crew could see it sooner coming through the tunnel. The switch is to the Blue Ridge siding, which was later removed completely, as the bank under the siding kept trying to slide down the mountain!
