Joe, is that a block signal mounted on a pole in the sidewalk?
James I thought the same thing. Looks like a block signal to me to.
Neat shot, tracks are gone but the Depot is still there, I think it's an office building now. Love the WP

The signal on the pole could be a fix distant signal. It does not seem to have a housing large enough to host a mechanize.
Nice capture! I would have liked to be eating dinner at "Spaghetti Depot"--it has a great trackside view.
The WP had some fun installing signals along sidewalks and curbs in their (street running) day. This picture reminded me of a true Western Pacific block signal ostensibly on the sidewalk in Elko, NV, from earlier this year: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=433756&nseq=10

For anyone interested, here is the same scene today... thanks to Google Street View. http://goo.gl/maps/P77HR.
The tracks are long gone, but the green pole (minus the signal), the fire hydrant next to it, and the depot are still there!
