I grew up in Portales NM in the '50s. I recall my family called it the PeVine Special.

A very interesting catch! I was not aware that this unit was articulated.
|
Nice shot, the ATSF would roll their secondary trains at a pretty good clip back in the day. When I was a kid I would see the "El Pasoan" roll through Las Cruces NM at a pretty fast pace.

The car has been renovated and is on display in Belen, NM. Pictures were recently to Train Orders.

Steve, we railfans are fortunate that folks such as yourself take the time to document rail history.

I echo jdayrail! Thanks Steve

Nice catch and photo Steve. I've always wanted to ride in a "Doodlebug" - however I believe it's "Doodlebug" M160 on display at the Museum of American Railroads at Frisco, TX and there is even a photo of it here on RailPictures.net

ATSF M160 is displayed at the Texas museum. I photographed it when the museum was in Dallas. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=97719&nseq=1. Similar look, but not articulated.

This paint scheme so familiar to all of us seems a bit out of character to me on the flat front nose. Still, Steve, this is an amazing picture.
