Thanks very much for all the kind comments! Of interest, steam hauled coal trains still operate around the clock at this location though steam operations at the mine more than halved some months back down from around 20 engines in steam a day to under 10 due to the closure of rail operations in the western side of the pit. The eastern side where this picture was taken has not seen a decrease in traffic as of yet, but like all commercial steam operation in China is on borrowed time. JP.

yes, thank you Peter for the fine picture and explanation of the mine's steam operations. I also appreciated the map which gives us the context of where the mine actually is located. It looks very isolated.

Extremely well done, John. The foreground texture and color is just fantastic. Shadow detail is perfectly captured. I'd say this one is destined for the coveted "trifecta"....just a matter of a few days.
