Hard to believe this is an Amtrak train. Shot really captures what passenger rail was like back in the 1970s. Fortunately, we've made progress since...at least on the Keystone Corridor.

This was an unpleasant place to catch a train in those days- crumbling platforms, no shelter against a cold wind, no rest rooms, etc.

Fortunately, ENOUGH hardy people DID keep riding this route to support a baseline of demand to build the current Keystone Service on. Made MANY a trip aboard these cars between Lancaster & 30th St. but don't recall EVER having a car that actually HAD a bathroom in it. Not to mention getting hungry and thirsty along the way.

I wonder if the bathrooms were removed, rather than converted to the proper retention-style type that replaced the old "tube down to the tracks."
