The new motto over at EMD Design: "It doesn't have to look good, it just has to cover the wheels!" Nice catch, thanks for sharing - though it's a "gift" similar to socks for Christmas, lol.

Definitely needs an "E" or "F" front end.

Looks like a HSP46 from MBTA. Definitely better paint colors.

PS to Mitch Goldman: Just think of this loco wearing an ATSF warbonnet in red and silver. Wouldn't that be something to smile about?

Maybe not the most sleek looking locomotive....but, I think the paint job doesn't help. I think, at minimum, the trucks should be silver to distinguish them from the car-body.

How ugly, it' s a joke, I guess ?

I love how everyone is quick to label this engine as ugly. Personally, I think it looks just fine and people are just calling it ugly because it doesn't have the "traditional American styling" they're used to. Who cares how it looks? What's important is how well it will do its' job.

Beauty in designing and painting locomotives is not even an afterthought these days

I agree with 'showalterbj' - needs a warbonnet scheme. And, where are the horns? Hidden back in the middle of the car-body like the P-42's? (I still wonder how the sound projects to the front when they're directed into the cowling mere inches in front of them) Thanks for the post Snuffy
