Do you know anything about such wide loading gauge that train?

I believe the BNSF considers these clearance loads, and although they fit through the Cascade Tunnel, they put restrictions on meeting other trains. They have a set of rules about how meets are handled with restrictive loads, clearance or hazardous, but I am not very familiar with them.

A very nice photo. I can imagine that the sound of the rushing water competing with the sound of all that GE horsepower was pretty loud!

The water sounds made listening for the train difficult. Also the sounds of Harleys on US2 above the scene did not help. However, we did have a radio, and there is a detector at MP 1697, so that gave us enough warning for this train. Longer trains would be more challenging.
