You don't need dynamics on a passenger train anyway! Just use the air and drag it.

My understanding is that blended braking (a combination of dynamic and regular air) was used on passenger trains quite regularly in order to save wear on brake shoes. (Disclaimer: I'm no expert.)

How fast does Metrolink want this puppy to go? If not over 60, then the streamlining is mostly aesthetic [imho].

I realize that there are probably thousands of specifications that a new locomotive has to meet, but c'mon, do we HAVE to make the poor thing SO UGLY ? Doesn't EMD have anyone on their DESIGN staff anymore ? I wonder if the old "steamhands" thought the same way about the original "Fs" ?

On further study, while the basic locomotive will never be a "thing of beauty", the Metrolink paint scheme, as applied, does the shape NO favors. It could probably improved upon by bringing the blue down to the bottom of the frame rail and getting rid of that lower black stripe.

I think, due to the lower black stripe, that it looks to be on a lift kit. I'm sorry, I didn't know of any "souped-up, hot rod trains". It looks kinda silly.

Looks like the guys who masked the front end didn't communicate with the guys masking the back end, and they just kinda traced a straight line between where each of them ended up so it would meet in the middle. LOL. Overall, it kind of reminds me of an Arnold Schwarzenegger line - "You are one UGLY [explicative deleted]!"
