This had to be neat to see...An N&W class 'A' steam locomotive on home rails with a string of coal cars tied to her draw bar. Thanks for presenting it in black and white too!

Jeff, Glad you like this photo. This train also had a caboose which made for some nice going away shots. The 1980's and early 1990's were exciting times for railfans in the southeast. All of this action on the NS was made possible by the late Robert Claytor, who was then CEO of NS. I have lots of great memories and photos from this time and enjoy sharing the photos with others.
