It's always neat to wonder about subjects like this. Another way to look at it - all of the 114 years of rail traffic history that passed over these rails was done on steel rail that was made in America when quality and pride were a part of every day life.

This rail was a few feet south of the Hwy W crossing just north of Adell. I have crossed here thousands of times heading to the family cottage in the past 57 years. I've only seen a handful of trains in that time and the lighting was finally perfect to capture this shot.

I've got you all beat. Somewhere in my photo archives and when I lived in Vermont (I don't anymore, I moved back to Toronto, Ontario), I found rail on the NECR, that was rolled in 1894 or 1896 on a siding.

There was track from the 1870's on the ex-CNW line between Plymouth and Sheboygan Falls, WI when the line got rebuilt for the WSOR a few years ago. Not sure if I took pics, but I know others that did.
