I have been riding Amtrak NE Regional DC to Charlottesville for years.....it was odd to suddenly be on the "Roanoke train". Having been such a railroad hub, Amtrak's return is a welcomed sight.

JUST out of this photo at the right-hand end of the enclosed walkway is the Hotel Roanoke, which if perhaps a tad bit pricey is a GRAND place to stay if you are visiting here. The Hotel is operated by Virginia Tech University, as part of their Hospitality Management program. and high standards are maintained.
