These cars often ran singly, so they had left-hand controls to allow both vestibules to be used for boarding; note the windshield wiper above the engineer's window. The guy in the white shirt is either the conductor or a railroad employee standing in the cab, and the engineer in the yellow-orange shirt is probably sitting on the fold-down seat provided.

Thanks Mitch. I wonder if SEPTA will ever get to Harrisburg? It would be nice to have a one-seat ride to downtown Philly again.
