IF I recall correctly, the rolling canvas departure board at South Station Boston STILL listed #427 as "The New England States" at this point in time.

The consist for the last trains on the Indianapolis to St. Louis line (NYC/Big Four - not PRR) was one E8 and one coach. Sad as it may have been, it was sadder when I realized they weren't running at all anymore. I was 10 when they stopped. 14 years later the tracks came up between Paris and Pana (IL).
