Nice view of the old Pennsy station. I haven't been in this area since the 1990s when a friend gave me a personal tour of the Paoli Battlefield, which is about 1 mile southwest of the pictured station. The Battle of Paoli took place on September 20, 1777, with Maj. Gen. Charles (later Earl) Grey's British forces attacking Brig. Gen. Anthony Wayne's Americans. This action is also referred to as the "Paoli Massacre," because the British attacked at night with the bayonet only. "Remember Paoli!" was later used as a battle cry by the Americans at Germantown and Stony Point.
