Interestingly enough, the PRR didn't call these GP9's. Rather, they were ERS17. If memory serves, this stood for "EMD, Road Switcher, 1700 HP"

As of today, restoration work has begun on the 7048, with surface preparations underway. The Railroader's Memorial Museum anticipates work will be completed by September. The museum is also raising funds to purchase a cover for the locomotive.

Looks like it got dumped on by a flock of birds shortly after they discovered a raspberry bush!
