Wait, what's that behind the pole, an active vinegar car in 1974?
|
It is a vinegar car, but not active. Figure it had been AlaGa/Whitfield (syrup and pickle makers in Montgomery) car when active. There were several old pieces of rolling stock that sat at Union Station for several years. Do not know anything about their eventual fates.

Sure looks like it.

It is an old vinegar car (AlaGa/Whitfield), but not active. It (and some other old rr equipment) was stored for years at the south end of Union Station. Do not know disposition.

Ah. I had figured the vinegar car was active on account of it appearing to be coupled to that yellow-nosed switcher of unknown breed with its lit headlight.
|
I guess the sunlight is hitting the switcher's headlight just right to make it appear lit, but the little centercab was dead as a doornail.
