If "winter is always a rough time for the Amtrak Charger units," they don't sound like a good replacement for the GE Genesis units!

I certainly agree with the previous comment - why buy something that can't handle winter for this train???. Regardless, I like the Dash 8-32 loco better anyway!

I was thinking the same thing as xBNSFer. Aside from reliability, I wonder which units the engineers prefer running?

I agree 100% about the Chargers not being reliable replacements. There's probably at least a dozen of them awaiting mechanical work in Chicago right now. Testing will begin sometime this week for Chargers running the long distance Amtrak trains out of Chicago. It's going to be a tough pill to swallow when it becomes a regular thing.
