I'm wondering if a GG-1 could be restored and brought up to NEC / PTC standards, to operate on Amtrak in excursion and/or revenue service? Many of these were built in Altoona (Juniata), a locomotive shop that is still operational, and has in the past done contract rebuilds for other carrier's locomotives. Perhaps Railpictures.Net members could team up to sponsor such an effort.
