I appreciate the photos you’ve been posting because they often depict equipment and locations that were seldom documented. While this engine shed is not an impressive or historic structure, it and its environs provide an interesting look back on a small corner of everyday railroading a “scant” 43 years ago!

I did a double-take after seeing that "Northeastern" style caboose with round end windows, double rows of rivets for the four panels, etc. How did a (maybe) ex-Reading or LV or CNJ caboose wind up in Oklahoma? Perhaps it's a moot point as the railroad closed up for good about two months after this.

My guess, since it has RI lettering is that in typical Rock Island practice, they tended to pick up anyone's surplus equipment since it was cheaper to do so.
