Please don't get political here. It's unfortunate that a bunch of politicians brought back the rhetoric of that flag which generally was accepted to not mean what it meant over 100 years ago! And I'm certain neither the owners of this company nor it's employees supported such rhetoric. I would've never noticed it anyway except you pointed it out. I'm not even from the south and I never had a problem with that flag. I didn't ever treat it as a symbol oppression or see it as such until a few politicians had to have a cause to attack something because of a VERY unfortunate incident that occurred about he date of this picture. Nobody thought of it that way and I hope you're not implying just because you're in the deep South everyone backs the most recent meaning of that flag!

"The most recent meaning of that flag?" Some version of this flag was used when a block of southern states wanted to break up the United States because they wanted to continue the abusive practice of "owning" other human beings. This flag has never really stood for anything else, has it? Breaking up the country is, as I said, traitorous. I cannot think of another meaning.

I don't argue that point at all. But I grew up around very liberal areas and the issue of condemning the Confederate flag was NEVER brought up until recent years. So YES. THE ISSUE IS PURELY POLITICAL. And as I stated before, one of the POLITICIANS who led the campaign was the very one who said it was fine to fly the Confederate flag back in the 1990's. Frankly, I do agree with you wholeheartedly with its meaning. Nobody considered it for years. I would never fly the flag myself especially now because issue has been made of it. My point is when these people had that sticker on their locomotive, nobody considered its ramifications. Politicians made issue of it and revived its original meaning. Plain and simple. So to me, it is a political issue. Frankly, let's split hairs and condemn the Dodge Charger from the Dukes of Hazard called the "General Lee". If you haven't noticed, the paint scheme is patterned after the Confederate flag. Why don't we condemn the people who have painted their car in that scheme? That's racist, promoting slavery and divisionary then! Yet nobody's brought it up! The cars should be repainted or crushed, right? I mean, let's get real if you wanna carry this....

You went to rural Alabama and are shocked you saw a Confederate flag; you must live in a bubble. Ugh!

Hardly. I grew up in Anaheim CA, which at one time was a stronghold for the KKK.
