Wow, this is an incredible photo and what a time to remember in railroad history. At that time Tennessee Pass was truly the mainline through the rockies. I'm struck by the fact there is a signal and availability of electricity. The railroad brings progress! Also to note, 1931 is when the DRGW purchased the Denver and Salt Lake Western Railroad in order to build the Dotsero Cut-off connection between the Denver and Salt Lake Railroad and Denver and Rio Grande Western which was a vision of many railroad capitalists at the time. The D&SL railroad wasn't merged into the DRGW until 1947 after bankruptcy. There is a ton of fascinating railroad Colorado History from 1880-1960.
