On its maiden run out of the paint shop, SD45-2 5703 leads eastbound Super C at Java, Calif. headed for Needles. Four SD45-2s were on the hotshot when fuel oil was obviously cheaper.

The older cantilever signal bridge and targets at West Needles still remain, but for how long? Ditch lights are switched off from a meet which occurred minutes earlier.

The DPU's of an eastbound stack train are trailing down towards the Colorado river at Topock.
After a crew change in Needles this westbound intermodal is grinding upgrade and about to duck under I40 on their way to the west coast.
Having just gotten a new crew this colorful lashup led by a Santa Fe SD75M is just pulling through town westbound.
BNSF 7433 is climbing the hill west of Needles. This westbound train will shortly cross highway 95 to Vegas. This long train with two DPU units on the rear will work it's way uphill to Goffs.
