In the days when SD40-2s ruled the mountain subdivisions CP 5679 and companions emerge from the lower spiral tunnel easing their train down the Big Hill towards Field.

Westbound potash train #671 is beginning its descent of the Big Hill as it winds over Kicking Horse Pass - The tail end of the train is just leaving Alberta.

CP 8606 is seen desending Kicking Horse Pass just west of Stephen at the start of the 2.2% grade down to Field - 17/07/2010

Spectacular scenery and clean locomotives allows some decent photography, especially considering the sun had just broken through after a day of cloudy conditions.

It is almost 6:30a.m. and the sun has just crested over the mountains as the morning mist begins to dissipate.

There is something so majestic about the twists and turns leading to the Spiral Tunnels in Yoho National Park. Grain empties climb the "Big Hill" behind 2 SD40F's and a nearly new AC4400.
