An afternoon southbound meanders along with 6 EMDs and 21 loads
A text from a friend allowed me to capture a late running GNRR switch job. My wife calls it the Guns-N-Roses Railroad.

The southbound splits through the Georgia Marble Company with 6 engines and 21 cars consisting predominately of marble.
Passing by the nicely restored L&N depot is a northbound Georgia Northeastern manifest on its way to Tate.
High hood GP9 #6576 brings three empty hoppers down the steep grade leading to the first of two switch backs. The train will work Polycor Ga Marble Quarry Division once it reaches the bottom.
An engineer gives a quick look at the inbound road train from Marietta while tying down GP38 #2000.
The second local pulls into Elizabeth not even 5 minutes behind the first one with a trio of geeps running long hood forward. CSX's W&A sub is in the foreground.
The super elevation isn't necessary for 10mph running on 100 lb. 1920's era rail. Both the rail and the ex-Southern Pacific GP20 have seen much faster speeds.
