The sun is setting fast on a cold day over the Lineville Subdivision. Catching the last rays of light, is N013 racing south with 115 loads of coal.

Time to lend a hand... Leaving its train on the mainline, engine 485 and partner engine head a few miles south of here to assist a train with locomotive problems.

Autoracks on train Q203 streak by on the mainline just outside of Roanoke's City limits. Hours have passed and CSXT #3005 continues to wait for a crew at Broughton.

Kicking up some sparks, the crew is working hard to finish a section of track before they've got to take the siding for two trains to pass.

One of the daily southbound Q-trains on the Lineville Subdivision, rolls through Broughton with a clean unit on the point. Operating as X647 today, this train has three engines leading 175 cars.

At the moment the mainline is hot with empty ballast train W089 making its way north through Broughton. Another northbound would be the next train through, but that would be over 2 hours later.

On a cold and clear morning, I025 rolls through Broughton on the heels of auto train Q203. Only around 10% of the 152 cars on this train had containers on them.
