On Halloween night, an Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe freight derailed in La Mirada, resulting in a pile-up and fire. Early the next morning, I skipped gym class (as I often did!) to head up to the scene to see if it was photographable. The fire department was on the southern, sunnier side, so I had to resort to photographing into the sun – although the backlit water streams made for a nice image of a bad situation.
