One of the Los Angeles Junction's five CF7s sits next to one of four BNSF MK1200G natural gas locomotives at the LAJ's yard in Vernon, California, on April 25th, 2009. But by this late date, all the CF7s had been retired, and the MK1200Gs hadn't been used in quite a while either. The yard is switched, instead, by GP30s and GP39-2s ... And within another few years, those too would be gone, replaced by GP50s (some derated to GP35s). And, for the record, BNSF 1202 is ex-UP 1298, constructed on the frame of BM GP9 1729. LAJ 2619 is ex-ATSF 2619, rebuilt from ATSF F3A 201C. Photographed on railroad property with permission and while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
