Having a windscreen wiper is sometimes really useful... A local train from St. Moritz to Tirano pushes this Spurpflug ("track plow"), which has multiple blades to clear snow even between the rails and below the rail heads. To cross switches, some of the blades can be raised remotely by the driver. Without this type of plow, the snow would accumulate over months, turn into ice and potentially cause derailments.
It does not look like much, but actually the plow is throwing out quite a lot of snow/ice mix with much force, since the train is doing something around 50 km/h here. We underestimated this and got hit much harder than expected, even causing damage to the camera of the photographer standing next to me...
