Having completed its work for the day, RPCX SW1 738 ties down under the trainshed at Saint Louis Union Station on October 2nd, 2014. As Washington Terminal 738 (and later as Amtrak 738), this venerable old switcher worked the passenger trains in Washington DC for years. Now working in Saint Louis, the engine doesn't work as much, as there are only a few tracks left, with the rest of the station converted to a hotel and shopping center. Amtrak serves the city at an aesthetically-challenged station nearby, and the old Union Station's tracks are used mainly to store several privately-owned passenger cars.
