Heading west on Santa Fe's Third District is a short freight (not unusual on the Santa Fe in the 1970s) of primarily piggyback cars. Lead engine 5672 is an SD45-2 that was built in June 1973, and was one of the earlier engines delivered in the then-new Yellow Warbonnet paint scheme. This order was delivered before silver trucks became standard. A pair of U36Cs trail the SD45-2 as the train makes its way through La Mirada, California, on November 7, 1974.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
