The final run of the 2017 New River Train Excursions slows down for the first of two station stops at Hinton, West Virginia on the iconic C&O mainline. The first stop will allow the front half of the 1,200 passengers aboard the all-private car consist to detrain, then the consist will pull ahead to allow the rest of the passengers and crew off. While the passengers are visiting and attending the town's Railroad Days event, the volunteers of the Collis P. Huntington RRHS along with Amtrak officials will prep the consist for the return trip, including a power run-around move to couple to the west end, visible at top left.
The GE Genesis series are well known for being Amtrak's locomotive. With confirmation of retirement from Amtrak themselves, their time is limited. Now is your chance to catch them before the chargers arrive!
