The Mississippi River has caused alot of headaches in the Midwest with the railroads this spring. The river crested at Burlington, IA, (19 miles upstream) on 6-02 at the 3rd highest crest on record at 24.48 feet. The record was set in 2008 at 25.78 feet. The water at Fort Madison is starting to go down, but it has a long ways to go before the yard can be put back in service. A lone BN tank car sits in the water as this westbound auto train blasts off for KC after a crew change. The BNSF has done alot of track rising thru the town. In 1993/2008 I am pretty sure most of this mainline was under water like the yard???
