BNSF local L-CAL0081-12, the Second La Mirada, switches cars at Future Foam in Fullerton, California, on August 12, 2009. This location is mp 167.63, Kimberly, the namesake of this branch called the Kimberly Lead (named for nearby Kimberly-Clark, which used to be the main customer on this line. Today, however, most of the spurs into the K-C plant are either disconnected or torn out, as Kimberly-Clarkâs 1.3 million-square-foot factory, opened in 1956, will be closed by the end of 2019, putting 330 people out of work. Shareholder profits, of course, are more important than giving people jobs in today's America - unfortunately. Too bad these "blue-collar" workers aren't in the 1%, as maybe then the apprentice president might be interested in helping them out. While owned by BNSF, the Kimberly Lead is not connected to any other BNSF trackage, as it branches off Metrolink's Orange Subdivision (which, years ago, was part of the Santa Fe Railway, as was all this BNSF trackage).
