CSX Transportation’s St. Louis Line Subdivision, made up of segments of former parallel New York Central (east of Terre Haute IN) and Pennsylvania Railroad lines (west of Terre Haute). While Penn Central kept both lines intact, PC successor Conrail downgraded the duplicate mains to reduce redundancy. The St. Louis Line Sub runs from Indianapolis IN west/southwesterly to East St. Louis IL. A short 11-car CSXT train, led by Road Slug 2275 (ex-CSXT GP35 4414, originally Chesapeake & Ohio GP35 3574) and GP40-2 6442 (ex-CSXT 6326, nee-Baltimore & Ohio 4428), passes through town heading west under a pleasant midwestern summer sky.
