October 11, 2020, was the final day for daily service for Amtrak’s long-distance trains, such as train 4, the eastbound Southwest Chief, as it makes the first stop of its trip to Chicago. Amtrak P42DCs 148 and 202 have an 8-car train in tow, comprised of cars 32016, 32083, 38049, 33028, 34077, 34024, 35008 and 61012, and it departed five minutes late – at 6:40 pm. Shades of the pre-Amtrak days when many railroads cut service wherever they could in order to justify canceling passenger service. (Fullerton, California – October 11, 2020)
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
