I made my most recent visit to Lhoist just as the last of the fall color was hanging on. As was typical, the much hated(apparently by both fans and crews alike) rebuilt GP35 was in the lead of the loaded run that delivers to the NS interchange. As is pretty typical for my luck, just days after my visit this unit was rotated out of "road" service and now a matched pair of high hood GEs handle this duty. While I would have also enjoyed following the burble of pure GEs through hillsides full of fall color, I stifled my disappointment to instead appreciate a clean, standard cab GP35 carbody leader. When I thought about my other options to see monotonous parades of GEVOs I was pretty happy to have the chance to photograph a unique, although rebuilt, early generation machine that is still earning its keep today.
