Finally, a sunny winter's day with the Sanitary District of Chicago SW1's. When the MP15DC (#4) started doing all the work in 2016, the SW1's slumbered away in the shops. Many wondered when they would operate again. With the MP15 now indefinitely out of service from the July 2020 derailment, the 1952 classics have been performing all the work just as they were intended to, dating back to when they were built new for the company. On a cold and crisp morning, the 13 cars that were recently unloaded at the frozen drying fields are tucked away as #'s 1 and 3 shove 13 loads to one of the unloading tracks. Once completed, the two units will quickly combine the 26 cars and run around the train for the return trip to the plant in Stickney.
