Union Pacific train SYUWC 17 (Special, Yuma AZ to West Colton Yard CA) exists the UP’s Alhambra Sub and enters West Colton Yard to spend the night and perform some maintenance. UP FEF-3 class 4-8-4 844, the only steam locomotive to have never been retired by its original Class I owner, is teamed with UP's Southern Pacific-Heritage SD70ACe 1996 on a passenger special that was in New Mexico and, until this morning, Arizona to celebrate those two states' Centennial Anniversaries of their statehood. Less than ten years later, Solver Mountain, in the distance, will have been reduced to a height of about 30-feet. This mountain's location is due to be converted to an intermodal facility in the not-too-distant future. (Colton, California – November 17, 2011)
