Paired locomotives on Metrolink trains is usually rare, but in this case F125 904 is so new, despite its low number, that it has been teamed with 908 for break-in runs. Both engines were built in May 2016, but delivered years apart: 908 was delivered in January 2017 and 904 was delivered in October 2020 and is not yet ticked off enough miles to be allowed to operate on its own. Seen here on train 609 (Oceanside to Los Angeles), staying on the Orange Sub as it passes through CP Maple (where the 5½-mile-long Olive Sub diverges), seeing these two together allows the opportunity to note some minor differences that show up in these locomotives; the presence or absence of the white sill stripe and the varying locations, and color, of the road number on the cab.
