Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority operates heavy-rail, light-rail, subway and bus service in the Boston area. Three heavy-rail lines are color-coded (Blue, Orange and Red), as is their light-rail line (Green). Only 31 of the system’s 133 stations are located underground, and there are no routes that are entirely underground. But the 6 mile (9.7 km) Blue Line has unique equipment, as the 700-class Siemens Type 5 East Boston cars, built in the 2000s, feature electrical pickup from both third-rail shoes and rooftop pantographs, as the line has overhead catenary north of the Airport Station, and third-rail south of it. Pulling into the subterranean Aquarium Station (originally Atlantic Station) is southbound/inbound car 0742, running on the third-rail, of course, heading to Bowdoin. The MBTA is very dear to me. The first trains I ever rode as a toddle to teenager were those of the "T" Here is a collection of MBTA Subway and trolley I have found on RP from the 60's thru today.
