With a 5 mph speed limit on this section of Union Pacific’s Santa Ana Industrial Lead, one would think the chase would be fairly easy. But while traffic on parallel Grand Avenue wasn’t bad, I hit a red signal at nearly every intersection. Still, I easily made it to the grade crossing at St. Gertrude Place to grab this shot, passing between some palm trees as it passes the Consolidated Container Company plant. UP train LOA32 has GP40P-2 1375 (ex-SP 7602, née-SP 3199) and GP60 1083 (ex-UP 1953, née-SSW 9651) for power, pulling ten cars: 2 tank cars (for Behr Paint), five box cars and three empty centerbeam cars.
