Amtrak's northbound Auto Train #52 crosses over the James River in Richmond, running 12 hours late. With 15 Superliners and 33 autoracks in tow, the P40s assigned to this service get a bigger workout than most of their brethren. The concrete bridge here is on CSX's North End Sub, and marks the old dividing point between the Seaboard and RF&P. On the left is the ex-C&O Rivanna Sub, which now primarily carries eastbound coal and grain traffic.
Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.
