Still sitting on one of Taylor Yard’s turntable whisker tracks some two years after being retried following a wreck in Willowbrook (Compton CA) in mid-1983, Southern Pacific GP9E 3346 (ex-SP GP9 3447, originally SP 5610) shows the extent of the damage that caused this locomotive to be removed from the roster on 8/23/83. One would suspect that perhaps this engine hung around the locomotive shops in order to supply parts to other locomotives in their time of need. Every time I look at this image, for a second I think it is an F-M H12-66 Trainmaster. (Los Angeles, California – June 11, 1985)
