Heading west on Union Pacific’s Sidney Sub is UP train GSEXKE, a Grain Shuttle heading from Elm Creek NE to Keyes CA with 215 loads (!), weighing 30,532 tons (!!) and stretching 13,020 feet (2.46 miles!!!). This train was powered by UP SD70ACe 8567 and ES44AC 8080 up front, UP AC4400CWs 6421 and 6624, plus SD70ACe 8769 as the Distributed Power Units in the middle, and a grungy UP AC4400CW 6448 as the rear DPU. This monster train is seen passing under a bridge on BNSF Railway’s Angora Sub (ex-Burlington Northern, originally Chicago Burlington & Quincy), the line connecting the coal lines around Alliance with Denver.
