Race out of Ashcroft On the morning of July 7, 2004, a westbound Canadian Pacific grain train tries to give race to the Rocky Mountaineer Railtours passenger train heading westward too, on the Canadian National main line on the other side of the Thompson River. Both trains are heading for Black Canyon out of Ashcroft, British Columbia, and in less than ten miles at Basque, both CP and CN begin directional running, with CN line providing westward travel. I’m betting the passenger train gets there first.
