Arriving at Los Angeles Union Station 1 hour 12 minutes behind schedule (because it arrived in San Luis Obispo 1 hour and 5 minutes late) is Amtrak train 11, the southbound Coast Starlight. This train has relatively-new (just over one year old) ALC-42 306 on the head end, having just completed its first Los Angeles to Seattle to Los Angeles round trip. AMTK 306 was teamed with a pair of older GE P42DCs (182 and 180) for this trip, hauling a seven-car train. Fittingly, this is train 11, arriving on track 11, on March 11. Ooh … Spooky! (No, it’s not … it is just a coincidence. Geez…) And engineer Forcier will, who already lost an hour today, will lose another hour tonight due to the start of Daylight Saving Time. And he’s handling this train (northbound train 14) tomorrow, too. Ouch! (Los Angeles, California – March 11, 2023)
