The Franklin Avenue Shuttle is a New York City Subway shuttle service operating in Brooklyn, using the BMT Franklin Avenue Line exclusively. The northern terminus is Franklin Avenue, and the southern terminus is Prospect Park, with a transfer available to the BMT Brighton Line. As with the other two shuttles (the 42nd Street Shuttle in Manhattan and the Rockaway Park Shuttle in Queens), its route bullet is colored dark gray on route signs, station signs, rolling stock, and the official subway map.
The S began running on this route in 1963, and it has served four stations since 1995. The shuttle runs two 2-car train sets of R68 cars. The northbound and southbound trains usually meet each other here at Botanic Garden, the only station on the line with two tracks ñ a passing siding, which allows the northbound train to leave Botanic Garden when the southbound train arrives and meet here.
NYCTA R68 car 2918 is seen on the passing siding heading south from the Franklin Avenue/Fulton Street station to Prospect Park. (Brooklyn, New York - April 3, 2023)
