Heading north out of Far Rockaway is an Eighth Avenue Express subway train – the NYCT's A Train. Seen arriving at the Aqueduct–North Conduit Avenue Station, near JFK Airport (and even nearer to the Aqueduct Racetrack), this train consists of Kawasaki R211T cars, built in the 2020s in Lincoln, Nebraska. These R211T cars operate in five-car sets, and two of those sets are seen here, forming a ten-car train. The A provides the longest continuous ride in the New York City system – at 32.39 miles (52.13 km) between Inwood, in northwest Manhattan, through Brooklyn, to Far Rockaway, near the southernmost part of Queens – and a 2015 study indicated that it had a weekday ridership of 600,000 passengers. This station is a bit woodsy. So woodsy, in fact, that trees are growing in the center of the two (out of service) inner tracks! (New York, New York – June 28, 2024)
