A pair of SD40-2s of varied heritage sit in McCook Yard, cooling their wheels over the weekend until called to duty in local service once again on Monday. BNSF Railway 1600 was built by EMD as Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe 5060 in April 1979, later becoming Burlington Northern Santa Fe 6719 when the ATSF and BN merged in 1995. BNSF later renumbered it to 1600 in December 2010. Mated to it is BNSF SD40-2 1842, built in November 1973 as Burlington Northern 6918, becoming BNSF 6918 in the 1995 merger, and acquiring number 1842 in October 2011.
